Finding Beauty Everywhere

I love to find beauty in unexpected places...and I'm never disappointed.

We, you and I, just have to take the time to look. It's Everywhere!!

My Photo
Name:
Location: Ohio, United States

I'm interested in all living things which means All Things. There is beauty everywhere. We just have to slow down enough to find it...to see it. I believe there is nothing Man can do to match the beauty found in Nature...and not only the beauty. Nature can outdo anything man can think of in the way of destruction too. Man is very small, the works of man are very small. We need to remember this. But Nature never sends its force after anything or anyone out of anger or hatred or desire to conquer or own. Nature has many lessons for us all.

Sure Signs of Spring in the Pac North Wet

Howdy Folks. I've been hearing sounds of despair from those of you still locked in wintry weather so I decided to share some of the signs of spring around my house.

I didn't get any bulbs planted last fall so I planted them in mid February. The crocus and one tulip are coming up now, in late March.

This brave tulip has been in this pot only 3 weeks. I was really late planting it.

The crocus is nearly ready to open. Remember, it was planted only 5 weeks ago so I keep telling it that it's okay to bloom so long after all the others in the area are done and gone.

Here's a blurry primrose that is trying very hard and is quite pretty in person. Note, more crocus nearby.

My purple poppy from last year has appeared. We'll watch this one as it grows.

Brunnera macrophylla, Big Leaf Perennial Forget-Me-Not....a variegated variety. The leaves keep on growing throughout the season and get really big....hence the name. LOL

And lastly, a SURE SIGN that spring is here....fish fry....the swimming kind. These little guys are thick around the dock. Click for larger view.

There are 4 of the speedy little guys in this photo.

Happy spring everyone!!

ADDITION: I went back and counted again. There are 8 fishes in the photo.

Spring UN-sprung

Well, that's what I get for gloating. Yesterday, it started snowing. Yes, this is the place we talked G-Mom into coming to from Florida because although it's cooler it NEVER snows here. Snow started about 11:00 a.m. Looked like this:

An hour later, here is my little garden.

Two hours after that, this is the blackberry thicket on the hill behind our house.

At 9:00 p.m. we lost electric power which was restored at 4:00 a.m. March 1. And at daylight, we woke up to this. Our street with March Coming In Like a Lion.

I realize that none of this is especially exceptional to those of you living where you have REAL winters, but I post this to show it does not pay to get too cockey and to prove that we DO indeed get snow here at sea level in Puget Sound.
