Sure Signs of Spring in the Pac North Wet
Howdy Folks. I've been hearing sounds of despair from those of you still locked in wintry weather so I decided to share some of the signs of spring around my house.
I didn't get any bulbs planted last fall so I planted them in mid February. The crocus and one tulip are coming up now, in late March.

This brave tulip has been in this pot only 3 weeks. I was really late planting it.

The crocus is nearly ready to open. Remember, it was planted only 5 weeks ago so I keep telling it that it's okay to bloom so long after all the others in the area are done and gone.

Here's a blurry primrose that is trying very hard and is quite pretty in person. Note, more crocus nearby.

My purple poppy from last year has appeared. We'll watch this one as it grows.

Brunnera macrophylla, Big Leaf Perennial Forget-Me-Not....a variegated variety. The leaves keep on growing throughout the season and get really big....hence the name. LOL
And lastly, a SURE SIGN that spring is here....fish fry....the swimming kind. These little guys are thick around the dock. Click for larger view.

There are 4 of the speedy little guys in this photo.
Happy spring everyone!!
ADDITION: I went back and counted again. There are 8 fishes in the photo.

Hi Puget.
Great pictures. I'm glad to see spring is finally falling for ya'll. Down here it doesn't know what it's going to do. We're predicted to be in the 90's tomorrow and then Saturday the high will be 70. If it stayed in the 50-70 range all summer I would be happy, but alas, it's not to be. :)
Hope you, Gooserock and Florida Mom are doing fine.
Hi FM. Thanks for checking in. We've had one day in the 60's so far. Mostly it's been hi 30's and lo 40's and of course, lots of rain and gray days. But, I'll tell you, that sure makes one rejoice when the sun does come out.
I love it P4!
And LOL, those little fishies are wonderful too ... :)
Aren't crocus poking up -- bright green against the dark earth -- such a cheery sight after a long winter.
That's quite a variety of plants too ... love the variegated leaves on the forget-me-nots!
Thank you for helping me w/ my delayed-spring angst ... ;)
Hi O. Anything to help a fellow gardner/photographer in distress. BTW have you noticed my new url line avatar?
Hey Puget what's been going on? Hope you, Gooserock and Florida Mom are doing good.
Just trying to get a little toe tapping started. :)
Take care.
Hi FM. Yes, I know I'm delinquent... We're all okay, but finding something to write about is a little tough it seems. I think I'm coming up with an idea though. :-)
Thanks for stopping by.
Hi again Puget.
Well I seen winter, spring and now I'm waiting on summer. :)
I saw over at Olivia's site you're waiting on a new lens. I'm looking forward to some pictures. Hint, hint, hint. :)
I take your "hint" seriously. Still no lens but it definitely should be here by Monday. I've been having software problems too, but I'm ready to try again.
Soon...
Soon....
I know you think I'm being pushy, and I guess I am, but I do miss your posts.
Don't let an old codger like me get you into an uproar. :)
Hi FM. Nope, no uproars here. I'm everybit as much of an old codger as you are or maybe I'm an old codgeress? I'm just disappointed that I've not been able to post. I see so many things that I'd love to share.
Soon.....
Adding my name to the list too P4. Miss your beauty!
Thank you Olivia. I'll be back at it soom. I really appreciate the encouragement.
Hmmmm. I wonder what soom means...
Soon, is what I meant. :-)
OK I saw there were 13 comments here and not saying that I'm superstitious, I wanted to make it 14. Well OK, I might be a little superstitious. :)
Hope you, Gooserock and Florida Mom are doing fine.
