I Feel Like Half of me is Gone....
I'm in a real dilemma. I had to take my computer in to the computer-doctor to get its DVD burner replaced and it had to be hospitalized over night. I find I'm lost without my computer to entertain me in the evening.
I'm writing this on Gooserock's computer. Yes, we each have our own computer sitting side by side in our living room. If that isn't strange enough, we even send emails to each other on them. LOL. Tonight we're taking turns at the terminal since he was kind enough to give me my own identity on his.
I don't have access to any photos either, so you'll have to settle for just a few words-only from me tonight.
My dilemma is that I'm a little disturbed that I miss my computer access so much. I should be able to find lots to do without it. I was so desperate a while ago that I did dishes BEFORE supper instead of waiting till 9:00 or so. It was bad enough when our power was out and there was no computer available. But then there was NOTHING available that required hydro so we had to live with it. Thank goodness, Little Mosque on the Prairie was on tonight.
I'm about to order a new lens for my camera. I think I'll go for a Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro. That's a lot of letters to describe one little lens. But I can't do that either until I get my "little glowing friend" back tomorrow.
I'm sure there is a lesson in this somewhere....like get a good book to read, or take up knitting, or clean the house or whatever. I'll let you know about the lens later.

Hi Puget
My old computer crashed on me last X-mas and I felt a little lost, but that was before I got to know all of you on the net and wanting to know how everybody is doing each day. If I wasn't on the net now, I would be doing what I usually did on my old computer. Taking and working on family pictures. I think that's the biggest reason I wanted a computer in the first place. It's funny how you start one thing (family pictures) and then branch out (friends on the net) to other things.
Anyway I hope computer is back very soon and the new lens turns out the way you want.
Take care
P4 ... I'm with you too. When my computer went down I realized how much time I spend on it - lots. And the other things that I'm interested in that I might do if my computer wasn't available are all computer related too -- like my photos for instance.
Looking forward to hearing more about your lens.
Oh, and that was really sweet of Gooserock to share! :)
Hi FM. Thanks for stopping by. I can always rest assured that you and Olivia will by around to check in with me. That's very comforting. I'm glad you've found all your friends on the net. It's an amazing avenue that's been opened for us, isn't it?
Hi Olivia,
You're exactly right. It's not just the blogging, (I actually do very little of that) it's not being able to look up something on Google the instant I think of it, or checking email 20 times a day, or working on my photos, etc. It's a good thing I get out to take photos once in a while and to walk the Totos or my fingers would meld with the keyboard. Now, that's a scary thought.
Yes, Gooserock is a sweety, opinionated, but a sweetheart all the same. LOL
Hi, Puget. My sympathies. I've been without a working computer at work since early October. And when my computer at home, or Teach's has a problem, it is difficult to share - though nice that there is another computer nearby. (Like you, ours are almost side by side.) We have become so intertwined with the computers, in ways I would never have imagined. And the people you meet, are one of the very best parts!
I've had my computer back now for a week. Been spending that week working to make it look and act like it used to meaning reinstalling software etc.
It is running ever so much better now. It's really fast and much happier.
One quirk though. All the desktop icons insist on aligning to the left edge no matter what I tell it to do.
Any thoughts?
Hi P4 ... Good to hear that it's working better! You can turn that off by right clicking on the desktop and selecting 'Arrange Icons By' and deselecting (unselect?) the auto arrange. Try that and see if it works.
Btw, I took my comp in on the w/e. They said 3 weeks if the parts are in. :/
Hi Olivia,
Oh dear! 3 weeks? Yikes!! Talk about withdrawal symptoms. Eeegads!
You'll have to take lots of naps and eat chicken soup while it's gone. That works for colds anyway. LOL
