Two Weeds

Mountains across the bay with colorful weeds in the foreground.

Tansy and Curly Dock. Tansy is considered very invasive weed and yet so lovely.

Showy combination of the two.

Tansy close-up. Each "button" is about 3/8 inch across.

Tansy close enough to gather pollen. See the tiny web? I didn't see it until I looked at my photos.

Those are some pretty weeds! :)
That yellow is so vibrant, and they look like little fuzzy yellow pom poms.
And what a wonderful view you have there ... the kind of view that begs for panoramic shots!
Hi Olivia! It really is an amazing yellow. They dry well and hold their color too. Dried weeds/flowers is another interest of mine. Beauty everywhere...
Really! What do you do w/ them?
I put them into everlasting arrangements. Dried grasses, seed pods from other plants when left to dry are beautiful. Tansy keeps its yellow color...90% of it anyway. So you just make a flower arrangement like before only the material is dried instead of fresh. Since it is already dried....it lasts forever.
Some of those roses you have to deadhead....let some of them die on the plant. They will form rose hips (probably) that can be cut in the fall and put into flower arrangements. Your poppies have gorgeous seed heads. Don't deadhead them when the petals drop off. Let the seed head dry on the stem then cut them in the fall. Beautiful.
Crocosmia which is blooming now has wonderful seed heads. The possibilities are almost endless. Let your purple cone flower dry on the stem. They add interesting texture.
I'll try to see if I have some pictures of my old arrangements. I haven't had a garden for so long that I don't have any current ones. (That may change soon)
Hi Puget. Those are beautiful pictures. I would say you pulled an 'Olivia' and showed me beauty where I hadn't seen it before. In this case I have seen the weeds before, and I'll have to say you pulled a 'Puget' by showing me there is beauty everywhere.
Thanks.
FM! You are wonderful and you make me LOL to boot.
Wow Puget ... you're very serious about this. Thanks for those tips ... the only dried flowers I've handled are the occasional roses that were given as gifts. But seed heads -- whoa! That opens up a whole new world ... I'd love to see some of your older photos of arrangements.
(And is that cryptic last bit r/t Gooserock's cryptic bit the other day ...?!?!)
:-)
Hi FM. Thanks for the very nice sentiments and I sure call it a compliment to be linked to Olivia in any form...."pulling a" or whatever. LOL
Hi Olivia. I'll see if I can find some pics. If not, I'll take new ones as opportunities present themselves. As to Gooserock's comment.... yes. ;-)
And a compliment to be linked to you too P4! (And whatever it is specifically, I hope it works out ...!)
